Daytona Beach Bike Week – About the World Renowned Motorcycle Rally

Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts head to Florida each and every year for the Daytona Beach Bike Week. This amazing event is scheduled over the week of March 8th through March 17th in 2013, and has been happening every year since 1937, with the exception of 1942-1947 during World War II. Daytona Bike Week started out as the Daytona 200 race, which was a course a little over three miles that covered both beach and pavement.

The Daytona Bike Week has grown into a world famous event that includes music, parties, events, and entertainment, as well as biker camaraderie. Similar to the Sturgis Rally that takes place in the upper Midwest, the Daytona Beach Bike Week is well-known and is typically attended each year by approximately a half million motorcyclists and hobbyists. The event is monitored by local law enforcement, including the Daytona Beach Police Department and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

The same group that puts together this event also runs Biketoberfest, which is a similar event that is held in October in the Daytona Beach area. This event is not nearly as popular as the Daytona Beach Bike Week, but still brings in relatively large crowds for entertainment, food, and fun! Vendors often rent space at the event as well, making it a great place to learn more about local and national biking companies, motorcycle accessories, and other products and services that relate to those who are bikers or enthusiasts.

Many area hotels and RV parks offer accommodations for those looking to attend the Daytona Beach Bike Week, and many offer discounts or special prices for the event. Additionally, many area restaurants are well-prepared for the masses that come to the area for this event and provide bikers and attendees with hearty meals and drink specials.

There are many races and competitions that are part of the Daytona Beach Bike Week festivities, along with popular biker bands and musical entertainment throughout the ten days. Visitors and tourists can also enjoy biker stunt shows, custom bikes on display, swap meets, and even shops for official Bike Week gear and a flea market open all week long! There will be a motorcycle art exhibition available featuring canvas work of Harleys and other race bikes, and the opportunity to win a Harley through a drawing at the Conklin Center for the Blind.

If you are looking for an exciting adventure and a week of fun with other like-minded bikers, Daytona Beach Bike Week is a great way to kick off spring in the hot Florida sun! Riders from all over the world come to Daytona for this event and join together for fun, excitement, and entertainment all week long!
